True is the saying, a human is never contented with what he has.. I'm a victim of tis sayin too. Well, u may presume dat wif my sudden fetish for accessorizin my camera means i'm v. contented wif it.. My faithful Canon Powershot S2 IS. But well, thins changed within a minute of me chancing upon its successor.. The Powershot S3 IS. *sighs.. Not dat i'm sayin i'll forgo my beloved camera for e S3 IS.. But well.. Now i'm holdin back on my gettin of accessories in case (shld i jump ship to e S3 IS), these accessories doesnT fit e camera. Tsk.. Y muz we always seek for e best? Does it mean dat if e S4 IS, e S5 IS, etc. comes out, i'll kip changin? It's a vicious cycle dat is nv endin.. E downside of technology. Ever-changin.. But e penny to support e advancement of technology nv kips rollin in. *sigh.. So much talk and consideration over tis matter. But still.. At e end of e day, i'm rather positive dat a S3 IS wld end up in my hands. Thus, a sign of weakness for succumbing to temptation..

[10 Feb. '06]. The shrill cry of the kingfisher is sufficient to make my head turn.. Captivated as i always was by birds, e strikin blue on e back of e kingfisher truly contrasted well wif e other colors of e kingfisher to come up wif a masterpiece of nature, and tis nv fails to draw my breath away. Amongst e green foilage, e blue kingfisher stands up and it wasnT long before i caught sight of it.. As i was reelin in e beauty of dat little bird, life gt better and another kingfisher flew into sight. Whew.. It's nt really common to see a White-Collared Kingfisher in a school setting, much less two. As i watched them, one of them plunge frm its perch and swooped down onto its prey.. Guess wat e prey was? As e name suggests, a kingfisher's diet normally made up of small fishes as well as crustaceans.. However, dere wasnT even a drain for e two kingfishers to fish. Tis is when adaptation comes into e picture.. In order to survive, e kingfishers had to substitute a diet of fish and crustaceans for insects and little lizards. As i watched the kingfisher flew back to its perch wif its prey in its mouth (supposedly a grasshopper), thins went thru my mind.. In tis harsh world, in order to survive, adaptation is really essential. It is not e strongest nor e most intelligent of species dat survive.. But yet, e one dat is most adaptable to a change in its surroundin. Look at e kingfisher for example.. It has changed and adapted to e surroundins for e sake of survival. Gosh.. Even a small little bird can do it. Wat abt. us humans? Us, who proudly proclaim dat we are e most intelligent and e best species on earth.. Us, that will rule over e rest? Yes, tis could be true.. Look at our technology and our infrastructure. But how will we fare when e time calls for us to adapt to a new surroundin? Will we be able to leave our comfort zone without any complains and fight tooth and nail juz to survive? Or will we juz gif up when calamity befalls us? Well, if my deductions are right, i'm quite sure most ppl's answers towards these questions are negative ones.. Instead of adaptin to e situation, they will try to change e situation so that it suits them. Datz is y we may reign over e other species in terms of intelligence.. But in terms of adaptin and adoptin a new lifestyle juz to survive, i'm afraid dat e other species lord over us.
Well, wat wld ur answers to e qns. above be den eh? I'm rather positive dat e answers will vary wif each individuals; just as no two humans are exactly alike..

[3 Feb. '06]. 'A Picture Paints A Thousand Words'.. I'm sure almost all of u haf heard tis proverb before. Rite? Hence, i shall assume u all know wat e proverb is sayin.. But have you tot much abt. tis proverb? What is a picture to u neways? Is a picture a masterpiece? A piece of art? Or juz a mere photo?
To me, a picture is actually all of the above.. It all subsets each other. A photo itself is already a piece of art, a masterpiece for e one who depressed e shutter to capture a particular moment. Let me juz talk more abt. a photo.. Wif e introduction of digital cameras, e cost of photography has dropped drastically. Film photography was well, in a way, expensive.. Esp. e ever-present need to purchase rows of film. Besides, e photographer will nv know how e photo turned out until e whole film is developed.. And well, e anticipation of e eventual product certainly is annoyingly painful. E time came when e price of digicams plunge and tis calls for a mass ditchin of film cameras to get it replaced wif digital ones.. Neways, photographs are our main subject today. Well, a photograph is actually a memory dat e photographer wans to keep.. E subject is smth worthy of remembrance. However, do u know dat a photo can evoke different fylins to different ppl? Do u know y different ppl see a picture in different lights? Actually it all boils down to experience.. For example, let's talk abt. a photo of a cockroach. Tis fast-movin little pests are nt easy to capture on a camera.. Say, if someone did capture it well, a genuine photographer will ask, "What setting did u use for tis photo? E aperture? E shutter speed? Neways, remarkable shot". Tis cld be becoz of e photographer's failed experiences in capturin one on his/her LCD screen.. But yet, e reactions wld haf been different frm a person who haf a phobia of cockroaches. It cld easily be, "Eeew.. Why do u ever bother to take pictures of such vermins?" And haf u ever tot of tis? Wat wld ur idea of e world be if nt for e fact dat u had seen photos of it? Takin into consideration dat we've been to and experienced none of these before, imagine a world without photos.. How den wld u be able to haf an idea of wat e 7 wonders of e world looks like? How den wld u be able to see scenes in e 2003 Gulf War? How den cld u see e situation in e tsunami-strucked Aceh? How can we identify e diversed flora and fauna in e universe? Would dere even be a poster of ur favourite idol pinned in ur bedroom? Hmm.. Get wat i'm tryin to hit at? If nt for e fact dat dere are photos as well as videos, we are unable to construct a picture of e world outside us.. Basically, photos are like 'unsung heroes'. Always dere to depict information in a visual form but yet, often nt mentioned..
Up to nw, haf u wondered watz wif all tis talk abt. photos already? Well, tis day, i've ventured further into tis field.. I'm gonna make my humble appearance in e world of photography. I've.. joined e Photography club in NP. =)
